Giving is an act. An act is something you do for a particular purpose. There are so many beliefs, ideas or thought about giving that some people have in our society today. You can define giving in so many ways. It could be to hand over something to someone as a present or to meet a need or give alms. It also means to provide somebody with something one needs such as money, food, material, time, service, etc. Giving is a good act. A person who gives willingly and freely is seen as being generous. Giving is an act of expressing love to someone. You show love to people by giving them something. I love people who give because it takes a selfless heart to give. Some people are often too greedy and selfish; they want all things for themselves and will never give out to people. They have the mindset that if they give they will become poor, but this is a wrong belief. You don't conquer poverty by receiving, you conquer poverty by giving. The secret of divine prosperity according to G.o.d's principle is, if you want to have more then you give more. The Lord Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." (Acts 20:35)

G.o.d always bless those who give and are willing to be used by G.o.d to be a blessing to people. G.o.d blesses you so that you can be a blessing to people. G.o.d does not use a man until G.o.d blesses the man. It is the blessing of G.o.d that makes a man rich. Blessing comes before riches; you are rich because you are blessed. Having riches is not an opportunity for you to be proud or puffed up.

"What have you that you did not receive it, why do you boast as if it were not a gift?"

1 Cor.4:7

Once upon a time, there was a man travelling and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance, a Priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he pa.s.sed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, pa.s.sed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compa.s.sion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And the next day he took out two pennies and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.' This is the story narrated by our Lord Jesus Christ of how to show love and mercy to our neighbor. This story of the good Samaritan establishes that our neighbor is anyone who needs us, whether or not he is of our kin or nationality. Life is not about just being religiously active but the number of lives you can touch positively.

"Religion that is pure and undefiled before G.o.d and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."

James 1:27
