1. Do you give openly?
2. Do you give secretly?
In what so ever means you give, it can either be of this two; openly or secretly.
"Thus, when you give alms, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your father who sees in secret will reward you openly." - Matt 6:2-4
You are told the right way to give is to give secretly. You may ask what if the person you want to give to is in the open place. Try your best to make sure you call the person aside and give to the person and if that is not possible at that moment you can give because G.o.d sees your heart. When you give, you don't also have to announce it or tell people about what you gave. How you give demonstrate why you give, as long as you have the right reason for giving which is not to receive praise or acceptance from men, you will surely give in the right way. The scripture says your left hand should not know what your right hand is doing; meaning that the closest person to you should not know what you are doing. If you have the option to give openly or secretly, secretly is the best.

Giving is an act of doing good. How to do it without letting our right hand know what our left hand is doing (Matt 6:3) is an act not many have managed to learn. The man who would have his giving accepted by G.o.d will be careful not to tell them abroad, and certainly, he will be careful not to boast of them. We are to do good to all men, and giving to our fellow men is one of them. Let G.o.d be glorified in every of your good works. You are to go out into the world and live life so pure and good that your fellow men will see and will glorify G.o.d who has given such moral power unto men (Matt 5:16).
Do not make a show of your kind acts. When you help your neighbor, when you minister to the poor, be sure your motive is right. See that your motive is to glorify G.o.d and not to earn a cheap reputation as a great philanthropist or a heavy giver. Seek not to be known for your generosity, there lies a snare and you must, by all means, avoid it. In your best ability, do good to all men, but do it inconspicuously so as not to draw attention to yourself nor bring embarra.s.sment to the one you help.
How much do you give?
How much you give is also ways of giving. The magnitude of what you give determines your reward.
"The point is this: he who sows sparingly
